N麻豆原创 student-athletes had the unique opportunity to connect with representatives from Micron Technology during a special career event held on Monday, Feb. 17. Nearly 75 student-athletes attended the session, where Micron leaders shared insights about career opportunities within the company, particularly for non-engineering majors.
The event was sparked by Micron鈥檚 positive experience with N麻豆原创 students at the Fall Internship & Career Fair, leading the company to express interest in engaging specifically with student-athletes. Recognizing the leadership, discipline and teamwork that student-athletes bring to the workplace, Micron representatives highlighted roles in non-technical production and operations that offer strong career growth potential.
鈥淏ecause most non-technical students don鈥檛 immediately think of Micron as a potential employer, this event was an important opportunity to introduce them to who Micron is, what they do and how their unique skillsets align with careers at the company,鈥 said Chenoa Woods, N麻豆原创鈥檚 Director of Career Development. 鈥淚t was exciting to hear Micron reinforcing the same message we share with students鈥攖he importance of being able to articulate the 鈥榮oft skills鈥 they develop throughout their N麻豆原创 academic and extracurricular experiences.鈥
With the construction of its new $15 billion facility in Boise, Micron is expanding its workforce and looking for individuals with strong communication and leadership skills. The event underscored the growing trend of skills-based hiring, reinforcing how qualities developed through collegiate athletics鈥攕uch as teamwork, adaptability and time management鈥攁re valuable in today鈥檚 job market.
Following the presentation, several student-athletes stayed to network with Micron representatives about potential internship and employment opportunities. Students interested in connecting with Micron and other employers will have another opportunity on Feb. 25 at N麻豆原创鈥檚 Spring Career & Summer Jobs Fair.
As Micron鈥檚 presence in the Boise Valley grows, N麻豆原创 looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with the company, helping students connect their education and experiences to meaningful careers.
